Those damn storm chasers have just about driven me over the edge. They're here to clean up after Hurricane Ike, but mercy people. It's been 7 months. I'm sick to death of them. They tell me they only have two more weeks but today I learn the only other place they're allowed in is shutting them off. So that means for their last week here I'll have even more of the fools than I have to deal with now. I don't think I Can make it.

Oh oh! I'm beginning to think Katie might be a boy. Cats ought to come with labels. But this is a common problem in my family. Heather has a Cynthia and Beverly has a Phoebe. So I'll do like they did and keep the name. But I will start calling her "him." That's something Beverly never did.

Well I'm up to 325 books on LibraryThing. That doesn't include Mom's books, cookbooks, computer books or the general nonfiction around the house. Or the waist high stack put up against the hallway bookshelf. Mercy me. I'm going to have to take photos of my bookshelves and post them on Blogger.

One of my resolutions this year is to get back to playing in the sand box called Live Journal. I come on every couple of weeks and look through places of interest, but I never seem to post. I'm a paid member. So it's kinda like buying a car and then putting it in the garage, never to be seen again. Stupid.

I got involved in Blogger. I read (alot) and I got into the readers circle. So much that I began to take it a little too seriously. Worrying about my little lame posts. I'm not a critic so there was no reason for my to try to keep up with the English Lits who live there. Time to acknowledge my non-eloquence and just have fun.

Some one dumped 3 puppies under my house. Animal control is full and the SPCA costs too much. No wonder they got dumped.

Hot diggedy dog! I've taken my vacation. This year my birthday lands on Thanksgiving. And to celebrate, I've strung together 10 days off. It don't get no better than that.

Dave and Mary decided to move back to Alabama to be closer to their families. They thought it would be good to do it while the kid were still young.

I'm going to miss him. He was easy to work with.

Well, since Kathy already had a litter of 4 kittens, she decided she didn't need another. Can't says I blame her. So I brought Daisy home with me. I've had bad luck with both of the dogs I've tried to adopt in the last year. Rufus was a Lab and just too energetic to be left indoors while I worked. He ate furniture. And then BB. She had been severly mistreated and was petrified of chains so I couldn't leave her outside alone. But I did and she got hit by a car.

So I gave up and brought Daisy home. It's hard to give a kitten to the Humane Society if you've bottle fed it. I've never given the Society an animal, but my sister will do it real quick. But Daisy is a loud purrer. I like that. She can be sitting at my feet and I can hear her. Being orphaned so young, she is very independent. Much more than the typical cat. She's very content to sleep alone. My adult cats can't do that.

She'll also spend great amounts of time playing alone. She does me the great service of dragging all the dust bunnies out of whatever nook she finds them in. It'll be months before I have to sweep under the couch.

I'm off tomorrow so I'll have to spend a little time figuring out how to get You Tube to do what I want. I also need some time to make some changes to KimmiesKrap. Looks like I'll be sitting in this chair for quiet a while.

Saturday we had the worst storm I've ever been in. It only lasted about an hour but by the time it was done the water was up to my knees. Lightning struck the tree about 15 feet from my house and sent a branch crashing onto the electrical and cable wires to the house. The electrical cable was about 6 inches above the water. If the electricity had not have been off already, I would have been sitting in deep shit.It was really intense. After it blew over, we went out and cut the limbs off the big branch and released the tension on the wires.
The electric cable wound up closer to two feet off the ground and the electric company came Sunday and raised it back up. But the cable company won't come until Saturday. I hoped Comcast would be an improvement over TimeWarner but I guess not.
